SOY JAR CANDLES

Soy candles are a perfect choice for a eco-friendly and all natural alternative to paraffin candles. Soy candles burn 30-50% longer and of course cleaner than paraffin and have 95% less soot.

TIPS:

  • Okay you have your new candle home and are ready to light for the first time.  The "first lighting" it is important to allow the candle to burn 2 1/2 to 3 hours.  Candles have a memory and this first burn is what will determine the candles memory.  If you allow the candle to burn the first time to the edge of the jar, if will create this "memory" for the burn of the candle and prevent if tunneling in a small diameter down the centre of the candle.  Creating this initial memory burn will increase the scent throw of the candle and create a full melt pool
  • we use only all natural fiber wicks and these are generally self trimming as the candle burns down.  Sometimes, however, a black "mushroom" may appear at the top of the wick.  This is actually unburned carbon that the wick has collected.  Once the candle has cooled you can trim this off if you wish and relight your candle
  • when creating our candles we use the highest recommended amount of scent in our candles.  Sometimes, however,  you might find that you cannot smell the candle anymore.  This happens when our "sense mechanism" that allows us to smell has become used of the smell.  If you leave the room for 15 minutes or so and return, you will be surprised that you can once again smell the candle
  • If you are burning candles in a large open space, you may either need to consider burning a few candles at a time or burning a larger one to get the maximum scent throw throughout your area.  Our 8oz candle jars, for example, do best in rooms 400 square feet or less.  For the larger rooms, consider a candle 3 inches in diameter or more

PURE SOY WAX MELTS

We use double the scent in our wax melts as we do in our wicked candles.  The thing to remember with soy though is it does not evaporate the same as paraffin.  Once you feel you are no longer smelling the scent from your melt, it is time to change them up.  Let your wax cool and then scrape out into the garbage.  And begin again with a NEW soy wax cube.

Because soy wax is biodegradable, it cleans up super easy with hot soapy water.

FEATHER PALM PILLAR CANDLES

Burning a pillar palm candle is a bit different than burning our soy wax jars.  The first time you burn your candle, you will want to only burn 1 - 1 1/2 hours (add 1 hour of burn time to each extra inch of candle - for example a 4 inch diameter candle will need to burn closer to 2 1/2 hours for the first burn) to create your memory burn.  This will ensure that the candles regularly burns down the middle.

Although it is nice to make the first burn go all the way out to the edge, this can create a too hot of wax pool as the candle burns down causing a "blow out" on the side of the candle.  Remember if you are burning pillars side by side, this will create extra heat so be sure to monitor heat and wax pools and distinguish and allow to cool before relighting.

Always be sure to burn your pillars on a fireproof dish.  Should a blowout occur, most traditional candle holders lack the capacity to contained leaked wax.

SAFETY TIPS WHEN BURNING CANDLES

  • Burn on a stable heat resistant surface.
  • Always discard any twine, hanging tags and candle package boxes before burning.
  • Extinguish the flame if it becomes to close to the side of your container.
  • Keep away from drafts & vents.  Always keep candle away from anything that can catch fire.
  • Do not touch or move candle when lit or when wax is melted, glass can become hot.
  • Never burn candle more than 4 hours.
  • Keep wax free of wick trimmings, matches and any other flammable material.
  • Burn your soy candle in a well ventilated room.
  • Do not burn candle when wax is 1/2" or less from the bottom of the container.
